For me, it's been a long time. In fact I cannot even remember the last time I watched any hentai or porn, at all. Not even a picture. Even when I was still a virgin I just lost interest. It's like the same stuff over and over again. I'm not saying it's crap (a lot of "regular" porn is crap though); hentai can still be creative and even if it isn't the art is really erotic and I'm not shy to say, I like pleasing myself while watching, well when I used to watch anyway. It just seems repetitive and I enjoy my own imagination just fine.. I might make occasional reoccurances in my lemon writing but other than that I don't plan to resume watching anything again, I feel there is no point. The topic here is I wanted to ask other fans if they are losing interest? Does it feel like the same old stuff over and over again? Oh I guess intent of viewing is important; it wasn't always something to watch during self-gratification, I'd sometimes watch it just to be entertained. I know of just one exception, if I am in a relationship where my girlfriend is a fan of hentai, I will gladly watch with her (probably for the purposes of getting us aroused to make the anticipation of sex more exciting.) Oh, and when I did lost my virginity I found the intimacy to be with someone I'm in love with a lot more thrilling than just raw sexual pleasure. So after that sort of experience I really don't think hentai can entertain me anymore..
There are probably a lot more people who disagree and still find it fun to watch, so.. why is that? I wonder if there are others who just slowly watch less of it or have stopped entirely. :smash:

In order to properly guard against a depreciating interest in any particular movie it is best to possess a wide variety of films that you could watch. It is also best to space them out accordingly so that you are not viewing the same material so often. Even if you do possess a favorite video with a favorite scene, or even if it's just a mediocre video with your favorite scene in it, it is still best to space them out accordingly. Let the anticipation build between viewing your favorite material. Another good idea is to throw in some substandard material to make the material you like more seem even better by comparison.
The key factor that I am trying to make is anticipation. Perhaps the second best feeling to getting some, is knowing that you're going to get some. If you're getting it all the time this sense of anticipation will begin to fade. The same principal can be applied to masturbation and whatever stimulus people may use. So to counter this it may become appropriate to provide yourself with dry spells if you notice this happening.

Thanks Crabs, that does help explain some things. Most recently I can relate to getting burned out when playing my favourite game. But.. it's been several months since I've seen any hentai, and I still go on without wanting to watch it. I did mention watching with a special girl, and actually I would like that opportunity, I've never watched with anybody at all before. But.. other than that I don't care for it much. In a way I am hoping I date somebody that also has interests in stuff like this, then perhaps my own interest will be renewed. Even my own desires, what I want for myself, reflects on my interests in hentai; like I really want a loving relationship and I also preferred consensual sex in hentai instead of rape all the time (Loosely related but still, you get the idea.) I never got a chance to share sexual interests as deeply as I really could have in my last relationship, perhaps I can with my next one. Most of this is specific to me anyway. :smash:

Well I'm glad I could be of service. Ever since I purchased a copy of Akira I have turned movie watching into a science. It was on that day when I decided that I wasn't going to ruin that movie by watching it too many times like so many other movies that are constantly aired on television. Comedy Central had almost completely ruined my interest in Office Space as well as several other movies. I did not want that to happen to Akira by watching it too much. Slowly I came up with a system where I would watch my movies in a random order. After watching them all I would reshuffle the order so as to not get bored with watching them in any particular order. It also helps if you have a larger selection to choose from. Right now I could watch one movie per week and still not watch all of my movies within a single year. My hentai selection however isn't all that expansive but I still manage to ration them all out.
Unfortunately I must keep this short. I have a final to go to right now. It's my last one and then I get to pack up and go home.

Personally I watched Akira, 3 times before I got, well what I would call a moderately decent understanding of what the films about. Donnie Darko took me 7 watches in the space of a week to come to the ultimate understanding that I have of it now, I say ultimate because I doubt I'll understand it anymore than I already do. Fantastic film by the way. Blessing in disguise that Richard Kelly had such a little timespace to make the final edit as inho if the Director's Cut was the version that had been released into the threatres it would have never been the cult hit it is today. Anyway, back on topic, I always watch porn, not Hentai as much anymore tho, mostly lots and lots of porn. Porn.
Edit: ~@Ecchi - I would have expected different behaviour from such a highly catagorized pervert/sexual predator as yourself  You honestly can't even remember the last time you seen a pornographic image?

Whoa, slow down. Once upon a time I posted a lot in the H-Anime forums. Didn't you notice I just resumed even looking at it like one or two days ago? And that is true, I don't know the last time I have seen porn. There have occasional incidents, like my friend visits CollegeHumor and pulls up a picture of a naked girl. But I have not on my own looked at porn in a very long time. Just don't care anymore.
Not trying to sound mean, just trying to correct you before a bad image starts floating around... And I'm not a "sexual predator;" I feel that term is way to harsh, I just am comfortable expressing that I have sexual interests, just like pretty much everybody else. I hope it doesn't break your heart but sex itself, I was disappointed when I first had sex, and I mean specifically how it feels to have intercourse. And I thought it was a big deal. I was much more satisfied emotionally than physically or sexually; that's what I like about it. But anyway, the OB's all in a day's fun. :smash:

There are periods of time in which I go without any interest at all - but typically over time it resumes. It's difficult to explain, and in many cases, people are interested for different reasons. I've even gone months with little or no interest - but eventually I regain that interest.
I'm not saying that you'll definitely go back, but I'm saying that you may or may not find something that will bring forth the feeling you had prior to your reluctance. I simply enjoy the various animation styles involved with ecchi - so even if the magnitude of my interest wavers, I always have some. You're not considering a form of celibacy from hentai or porn are you? Many females think this goes against our nature on a genetic level - and I guess I'm inclined to agree.

Yeah I know it's "natural" to have an interest in it. (I mean why else would you want to watch..) Anyway I've seen a little softcore crap recently only because I was bored and had nothing else to watch. The dialogue can be funny because it's so stupid (although it's not as funny as dialogue in hentai) I still stand by my opinion, it isn't interesting, honestly my interest resides just in actually having sex instead of watching it. Although I really need to find a girl who wants to watch together, that should be fun. :smash:

I agree with Uncle Crabs. Variety is the spice of life, so they say ("they" say a lot). Mix it up. If you get burned out on it, look for different material. I am into 3D hentai at the moment, and my interest is showing no signs of slowing down.
Personally, I burned out on regular porn years ago. It's all the same boring crap. That's why hentai and 3D have such an edge. Because they aren't based in the "real" world, you can enjoy such wonderful fantasy, of practically any sort!
Look around a little. You'll be suprised with what you'll find.

I agree with the other people, then again... this is a pretty dead topic isn't it?

I'll say. I've been here for about two weeks now and there hasn't been much activity going on here. Are you people experiencing an H-drought of some sort?

Personally, I am. Last H-anime I saw was Princess 69 followed by Nightshift Nurses. I am still a wee bit traumatized.
Currently, I find myself getting my jollies off of the good-old fashioned harem/love triangle type anime and basically off of any good anime series that has romance as a sub or side story.
I'm sure my H-drought won't last for long. Hmm...I guess it isn't really a drought if I have other more mentally and emotionally stimulating material that also keeps me, um, excited, no?
