Was wondering if any of our wonderful residents could tell me anything about DVD decoding and burning? I've taken a scan around the Doom9 forums and the DivX forums but they're surprisingly not very helpful and I wouldn't have been bothered registering. Saying it's the social boards I thought, meh :smash:
Anywho, I have a 1.5 Gig DivX encoded movie and I have the tools to convert it to various other media but I want it to work on home DVD players without any problem, size isn't really a problem, each blank disc is 4.7GB so a large file doesn't really affect space but what file type should I convert to is what I wanna know, MPEG or a raw AVI?
Edit: Now that I look at it I don't know if I have the tools, I'll leave a list that might be relavent,
VSO DivXToDVD (Doesn't work, can't convert the Video_TS files properaly), VSO CopyToDVD, DVD Shrink 3.2 and Blaze Media Pro 5 (Has a Video Editing, Conversion and Construction/Decompilation suite)
Any suggestions?

Ok. I have been wanting to do this for a while and i haven't had time to research fully. I make Music Videos and for the clips i use, i want them in as high quality as possible with out the file size being extremly large. I use a program called EazyVCD which is awesome but for the best file quality it splits it up into 5 parts. Sometimes i want the whole thing put together. I download Naruto Eps and they are wonderful quality and they are usually under 200 MB. Mine aren't.
So basically, I need a program that will let me rip my DVD's that i own, and put them in a file size under 1GB with really, reall, good quality.
Another thing i need, is a program that burn's dvd's that have subtitle files. I don't like some subtitles so i want to change them to make them more accurate. But i can't burn them to a DVD or to the actually video itself.
I have seen some complicated programs that claim to do this subtitle thing but i don't know how to do it.
Any help?
I would prefer Free programs.

They're only "good quality" until you compare the fansub to an officially released DVD. The compression used to make that fansub 200MB in size takes out a lot.

Doesn't the constitute as borderline rule breaking?! I try to lie about it! Instead of saying Naruto episodes, say Narowto episodes that are legally licensed and forwardable!

Absolutely no promotion of illegal or pirated products and any other illegal activity. As The Otaku Fridge is affiliated with many game and anime companies, it is our utmost obligation to report piracy/warez sites. Advertise your illegal site at your own risk.
It depends on how far you want to interpret "promotion." Generally action is taken if websites are being linked to or when people make requests for links.
ssjkm definitely could have worded his post better.

I'm just using that as an example. The quality is great compared to my stuff. (The AMV NARUTO QUALITY)
I DO NOT mean to promote these, i'm just using it as an example.
I'm not doing anything illegal I just want to make higher quality Music Videos. I've seen plenty of AMV's and i'm just curious on how to get the higher quality.
Anyway I own a lot of DVD's of Naruto so when i say download i meant i ripped them on my PC to use for AMV's.
I mean to cause NO TROUBLE.

Ripping and compressing DVDs is an art form with hundreds of variables to consider. Asking for programs to rip small files with is like me asking for programs to record a chart-topping hit song. It's not that simple.
And just so you know, AMVs are very much illegal.

Kyubi Kitsune you absolute legend, that site you referred me too had the exact program I need, little app called AVI2DVD! :agree: Now even if my files are split with a simple lil bit of renaming I have myself a tasty little DVD, just made one called Spin Clity, it's quite good. Various different storylines in the one movie...

Are they really? I didn't think they were illegal. They have a whole site dedicated to Anime Music Videos. Is it illegal? I thought as long as your not selling it, its ok to do it.

Think of all the copyright violations that go on in an AMV.

The average AMV violates five seperate copyrights and trademarks.
- The character designs
- The original animation
- The US distribution rights
- The lyrical/songwriter rights
- The musical performance rights
That's pretty illegal.

DAMN COPYRIGHTS!!! Oh well now that i know that, scratch that idea. I honestly didn't think it was that harmful. They SHOULD make it where as long as you don't sell it, its ok. But they won't.
 I'm sad now.
