So, if you check the happy thread, you'll notice me mentioning a new katana. It's so awesome, I can't even describe it....but it needs a name....I'll get a Picture

....So, I need to name it, but I need the perfect name. It's the Bill's "Demon Deluxe" from Kill Bill 2, but I don't know if I could go about calling it the "Demon Deluxe" all the time. So, just post some good sword names. I'll except any language....Except if you make up a language....well...if it sounds cool enough I'll allow it. I don't care if you take a name from something else, either. Just good sword names. Help me out.
Me!?!?!?
So we are posting suggestive names. .

Right? ;

Olaf the warrior
Klaus the third

That is the right idea right?

Yup, he wants names but not names of people. He wants possible names for his new sword. :ok:

TRP:
How about

ansatsusha-> assasin

taken from Common Japanese Phrases
Kuni
any language? :D

See if you hear something you like:
Kamatayan, Mamamatay, Aswang, Kadiliman, Kontrabida, Saksakan ng Sarap, Boy Laslas, Pantuli, Aputol Atite, Manunubos, Sampaguita, Itim na Kaluluwa, Mandirigma, Magnanakaw sa Gabi, Mana ng Dugo, Panduguan, Malakas, Masamang Balita, Hinde Natutulog, Juan Tamad, Pirata Juan (Jack the Ripper), Erap, Erapsyon, Perlas ng Silanganan, Alab ng Puso, Manlulupig, Dagat, Bundok, Simoy, Langit, Dilag ng Awit, Paglayang Minamahal, Ligaya, Mang-aapi, Panaginip

ask for translations for just the ones you like. :p

Here's some more, not in my native language anymore, but Japanese: Ki-rin, Oni

or my personal favorite: "Trample, Rampage: 2" hehehe
Mookamori
If you're looking for a nice Katana name, I'd suggest you go look up the Sword names in the Way of the Samurai games.

Anyway, here are my suggestions (don't know what they mean, though. Just found them in the games and on the web).

Hamanotsurugi
Zannkimaru
Yaiba
Zangetsu

(will edit once I think up of more names)

Seda Kraes Morfori Omre - :laugh

If one of those catches your fancy, tell me. I'll give the translation. :buck:
Kamisama
Kitsune Oroshi?
Yamikirimaru?
Hyakkuningen Oroshi?
Kurohana?

Just my suggestion...

Sheesh, seems like everyone on earth knows filipino except me (Looks at most people's location)....Oh. I'm in the minority here....Hmmm...

Hmmm....Let's see.....So far I like:

Malakas
Jack the Ripper (I think in Japanese it'd be radder, though)
...Actually a translation for most of these would be good....although, Malakas is sounding rad regardless of what it means (Unless it means like "Paper Plate" or something...actually, that'd be pretty rad too...Imagine an anime with a legendary samurai with a sword called the "paper plate")

Hmm....Ansatusha sounds pretty sweet, too. I may, however, be more inclined to japanese words, as opposed to filipino words. Japanese has more of a sexier flow, no? Anywho, these are comin' up good, please, keep 'em coming. I'll make a break through soon...
Akira Raincel
The Headhunter perhaps?
The Wind Divider?
ninjapeps
"malakas" is Filipino for "strong".

Kuni, some of those names sound like something a drunk Pinoy would think up.

some sword names stolen from l5r:
Passion
Ambition / Yasshin
Revenge
Judgement
Bloodsword (bloodswords are t3h win!)

Bitter
Honorable

Yuriganai
Megumi
Churetsu

Chukandomo

Blade of Truths
Blade of Secrets
Blade of Slaughter
Kuni
hehe. I do admit I stuck in some comedy names there and was hoping you'd pick one of them. Malakas... sadly is not one of them, it is, however, a good name. It's an adjective that is used for a great many reasons, but all of them of mean high intensity. It could be used as the following adjectives: strong, powerful, tough/hardy, mighty, boisterous/violent/wild, rugged/sturdy, potent, hearty, sturdy/stalwart, severe/sharp, loud, heavy, and lastly influential. whew. sorry, that was my Filipino-English dictionary talking.

Kapangyarihan - Power; Kamatayan - Death; Mamamatay - Killer; Aswang - Demon / Monster; Kadiliman - Darkness; Kontrabida - Villain; Manunubos - Bounty Hunter; Mandirigma - Warrior; Masamang Balita - Bad News; Perlas ng Silanganan - Pearl of the Orient; Manlulupig - Conqueror; Ligaya - Joy; Mang-aapi - Violator / Oppressor; Panaginip - Dream

oh wait. you don't like brutish sounding names? I don't know Japanese. :p but Ansatsusha is Japanese according to Lardy.

Hmmm...Jap sword names...Hmmm...Have your pick on some of these few sword names I remember from Soul of The Samurai:

Raimei, Denta, Muramasa, Masamune,...
Demoncaller777
Alright...here's some names I'm leaning towards...

Shimanagashi: Banishment/Exile
Makura/Makkura: Darkness
Makurayami: Total Darkness
Mumyou: Ignorance (Sounds rad in this sense)
Tokoyami: Ever-lasting darkness (Hey, it's a black sword)
Bachi: (Divine) Punishment
Kamiwaza: Divine work
Kougoushii: Sublime
Meibatsu: Retribution
Otsuge: Oracle
Oukenshinjusetsu: Theory of the divine right of kings (Okay, that one may be too long)
Shinryo: Divine will
Kyuukyou: Ultimate, final
Massatsu: Denial, Obliteration

I'll think of some more, but these are all sweet. Shimanagashi has a nice ring to it. Mumyou is sweet here, too.

+2 Katana of Slashing?

I have a feeling that if I had a katana (or any weapon, for that matter), it'd get a really stupid name. something along the lines of Cuddly-kins or Snooky Wookums. or maybe a name that's just plain weird to give to a weapon, like Bob.
Kamisama
Oni Kiri?
Kamizoroe?
Kuro Musume?
Yami No Kiba?

Or...Onigiri?

Uh, just in case you get into trouble and decide to eliminate every descendant of your enemy, and plan to use that katana to cleave the neck of the last descendant, here's a good name for it : YUGIRI ^^

Akira Raincel

Thank you everyone for your ideas. They were all very good, but at long last, I've named it "Shimanagashi". Sure, I suggested it, but I wouldn't have been able to do it without all you lovely Ober's out there. Second place was Malakas, if anyone's interested.
Voldemort
What? No "Aputol Atite" or "Brookinhymin"?

Regardless, nice name, DC.
JeremiahConrad
I personally would have gone with "Mean Nasty Hacky Hacky Thingie"

Why do names for things have to be cool. Just once I'd like to see some comic/movie/cartoon/game with some guy with a really cool weapon and he ends up giving it a really lame name.
ninjapeps
I have a similar mindset. that's why my last Diablo 2 character (a Barbarian) was named Snookums. :buck:

This may be a little late in the day, but if you STILL have that sword and STILL need to name it, I noticed that someone else mentioned Zannkimaru WAY earlier. This is a pretty fitting name, as not only is it catchy, but it is fairly relevant (if not wholly original), as it belongs to the usual main bad guy in "Way of the Samurai 2" (an awesome open ended video game originally conceived by Spike), who ran the Aoto Gang ( or Yakuza). Obviously somewhat of a parallel comparison to Bill from Kill Bill, as he leads the "Squad". The name is an even better fit than the similarities as it roughly translates to "Demon Killer", which fits with the ingraved figure above the Tsuba (on the blade), and on the Saya (sheath/scabbard), plus it is only a mild variant of the English name ("Demon Deluxe"), but FAR more preferable-at least in my opinion. Hope that helps (if you by chance still need it). If not, hope you liked the info.
