I don't see it as a sin, or that anything is wrong to doing it to Hentai and/or Pornography. But that doesn't mean I'm right. I don't go around telling people to do it. If other people think it's wrong, then let them think it's wrong.

As a student catholic schools for...ehem...let's see...14 years, masturbation with regards to the church is a sin since sex is for 2 persons and not just one. Well, in my case, masturbation is upto the doer since it's him/her doing it :wink: . But seriously, it's natural since we all have sexual urges. Heck, people masturbate if they are alone most of the time <literal and not literal> (would you masturbate if there is someone willing to relieve your urges for you? :smile: ).

As a matter of morals... we will always find the barrier of every different belief system, so this will give us some hard work to find an average (specially when for some cultures it is so WRONG).

On the addiction side, for me, if you go play five on one more than once a day I'm not buying the healh reasons, as another addiction it will consume you (dude this sounds so funny :laugh: ).

I would call it a special case of sex addiction w/ fantasies, wich might be a real problem, then again, it would be difficult to see such a case, right?

I dont think it would be fair to base it on morals and beliefs coz that only produces biases among people. It would be more appropriate to take a person's own opinion, without involving what he/she has actually learned while growing up.

On a personal note, I dont think that it is wrong even though I am a catholic. I would even say that it's a lot safer than getting involved with the opposite sex and risking STDs. That is why I disagree with the church on the issue regarding contraceptives...But that's a different story altogether.

Besides, masturbation is a part of growing up. There's no harm done (unless you are addicted to it and cant survive a day without it) >_<

Wanking isn't immoral at all. Though the pythons might disagree "Every sperm is sacred" and all. It's good for your health, both physical and mental and fantasizing has been shown to be a good method of letting of steam, especially when one may have fantasies which may be considered um... deviant.

Even if religious doctrine sees extra-marital and/or non-procreative sex as wrong, it would be entirely irresponsible to not teach masturbation and contraceptives as safe recourses. I went to three Catholic schools (elementary, junior high, and high school) and the teachers (or whoever designed the curriculum) in all of them were rational enough to provide us with such education. Abstinence, while certainly encouraged over the above, is an ideal. The reality is that not everyone will try to follow that ideal.
