any works in the future at least XD
Influenced by jcarro13's recent effort to support an old, but sound suggestion for the Fan Museum: Personalized Threads
so...just to start off...after that horrid Van Tomiko rendition :bawling:, I dared to try portraits again :bounce:
reference pic - Nanako Matsushimathe attempt
edit: this was rather tough because it's awkward to do a portrait wherein the head is tilted...if some of you may notice...the drawing's head is a bit more upright than that of the reference  This is because I cropped a close-up of her head first and tilted it to an upright position, and then the body just followed through...though I used the original uncropped pic for reference then...so some things *might* look weird or improper :buck:

It's the eyes that get you.
nib's level is where I want to be. He is my rival, though I'm not even a speck in his rear view mirror yet.
Nib, thanks for getting off your ass and drawing something. Now it's time for me to fight fight fight.
(in terms of artistic skill, nib is the big guy with his hand extended, pushes the forehead of me, the little guy with short hands, who is desperately trying to punch him, but because my arms are so short, I don't even come close.)

BTW, who is Nanako Matsushima? You seem to like her a lot  .
nib
Dec 25 2004, 10:10 PM
Most people might recognize her as the mom from Ring 1 and 2
she's an accomplished 30+ actress/model from Japan, made a name for herself starring in taiga dramas (traditional theme tv dramas). She has posed for various wholesome fashion/lifestyle mags. If you happen to see some Max Factor ads in Japanese, she's that girl :)

absolutely gorgeous! your varied value ranges are dead on with this one. I'd have loved for you to do the rest of the figure though!(the composition would have been much more dynamic.)

I don't know whether it's be consdiered off topic or not though, and also though is definitely integrated in my art style(whther it's really obvious or not) it's not my main focus and that's more of what we're here for. Thank You though. I start art college next week and I often wonder whether I've made the right choice myself in going there. When people sincerely compliment on my work though I guess I get back down to earth.

Yo guys, just hoping for some feedback on something I still dream of doing for the years to come :) I came up with 2 sample pages with different themes. They don't have balloons because I wanted to see how much story I could tell with just the panels.
shounen aiecchi (MATURE CONTENT, though it really ain't much)I'm interested in knowing if the strips work, meaning they could impress a situation that's clear and interesting enough :) Anyway though, any input on anything would be cool as well :ok:
