Okay, I've successfully setup LAN connection for my sister's PC (WINXP) and my PC (WIN2K). I can see all the files, documents and whatever stuff that have been shared but...
WHY THE FREAKING HELL CAN'T I CONNECT TO THE INTERNET?!? I checked the dial-up settings and the following are enabled:
- Allow other users to connect through this computer's internet connection
- Establish a dial-up connection whenever a computer on the network is attempting to access the internet
- Allow other network users to control or disable the shared internet connection
I even checked all the checkboxes in the Settings tab, just to make sure that I can do all sorts of things from accessing HTTP/FTP/POP3 and what have you. #_#

My dad tried that once.
He installed some sort of firewall software... a kind of proxy program.
Yeah, it worked, but the slow connection was made even slower by the sharing hehe  .
Try installing some network proxy programs, sky. I dunno where my dad got it though.
my os that time was win98, and i think his pc had win2k.

My advise is install a proxy program something like Analog X Proxy. Then assign an IP address for your sister's pc, run the proxy software. With your machine, type in the ip add of your sister's pc in the proxy settings of your browser.
Hope that helps.

Oooh. Hn. I wonder how Ichi did it, though. But then again, he connected Win2K to Win2K. I'm connecting Win2K to WinXP.
I'm of the mind to completely back-up my files, reformat my HDDs, sell my PC and buy myself a laptop and just use the other telephone line we have at home. >_<

I think the OS isnt an issue since WinXp is Win2K beautified. I think that the core of XP is the same as 2K.

I have always had mixed results with the internet connection sharing wizard in 2000 and xp. I would go with the suggestion of using analogx's proxy. It is free and really easy to use. just go to
http://www.analogx.com and you can find it. All you have to do is run it on the host machine put a static ip on both machines and then on the second machine turn on proxy and put in the ip of the host machine.
If you really want to use the built in wizard here is a faq on setting it up.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;237254From what I remember once you turned on internet connection sharing you had to have it create a setup disk that you then put the other machines to set them up to share from the main machine.

Ugh. Now both our PCs are acting wonky.
I'm sick of it and I'm reformatting my HDD and switching to XP. Question now is...how do I remove the virus info residing in my memory?

Isnt the computer ram only for temporary storage? I think that it becomes blank when you turn off your pc.

RAM is emptied when the computer is shut down or restarted. I know there's supposed to be a difference if you just restart and if you shut down then turn on again but I can't remember what.

Its a tad late but nonetheless, the contents of RAM can easily be flushed by performing a cold-boot, which means a complete shutdown for at least a minute(includes unplugging the power cable from the outlet)...By doing so, electricity which is stored usually on mainboard (esp the capacitors) will easily dissipate, thus flushing power from the RAM modules...
