WOW COOL!!!
Your art style is a little bit different from the traditional anime stuff, but nevertheless, it is very good, very detailed down to every nook and cranny, yet it's not cluttered to look at.. In fact, it's very clean!
And to think it was done with a ballpen....You are without a doubt a very skilled person to produce such results.... (:notworthy:)
Let us see more! ;)
Keep up the great work!!!! :)

as always nib, your concepts are very good.
i'd like to see more depth though. technique depth nib, not thought depth.
your work is by no means shallow.
just use this pen and ink technique of yours as often as you can so it would develop more, because you are not yet at your peak. BUT YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY THERE. :agree:
Kuni
Dec 3 2004, 04:31 PM
wow. that's harsh.
Could it be because you guys have very different styles? John goes more for portrait-like product, but Nib uses pens more anime-like. I can't say because I have no idea what quality pen art is.
John does have a very good point though, in that technique can be trained because it is a skill (can be lost and immensely improved), but your concepts are innate and won't go anywhere (they'll always be amazing).

 NOW I know why John practically called your last work technically shallow! He should drop a building on you more often!
Much much better pen skillz (almost as blown away as I was by John) but I admit there's something off. I was initially confused if her position was lying down or standing up, but hair flying. (It's because of her breasts, and her hair) Heck. I still am. If she's standing up, she has too much hair. If she's lying down, her boobs are implants. Either case, her left boob (right to us) could've used less outline (But it's generally a good idea not to have any outlines). Her right collar bone could've used less shading, and the hair near the right side of her face shouldn't be getting light at all.
Her haircut also is weird (It's way too short at a few places), but I understand it's virtually impossible to have a realistic reference for her hair. I'm just nitpicking now, I know. Sorry.
Me!?!?!?

You got mad skillz! i like the mino with the "Pabuffs po..." You are insanely good. :ok:
Me!?!?!?: uh, hell no dood ^^; That's Maureen Larazzabal ^_^ Google her up and indulge yourself at wherever it leads you ^_~
Kuni: I did intend to have her lying down, but since I couldn't get her breasts right (TOO MUCH PORN/HENTAI OVER THE YEARS, AND NO REAL, "NATURAL" REFERENCE AT THE MINUTE ^^; )...I made her hair look as if it was being cradled by air, if she was in a standing position XD
As you might've also noticed, I was trying to make it look like there was more light to the right, so I had less shading on that part of her body - collarbones, hair, left breast and underarm, etc. =/
In retrospect, and on the whole, there's no argument she'd look more naturally alluring if I dug up good enough references. Most of your critiques are justified mainly because I couldn't make her less superficial enough, because I was mainly relying on how I learned to draw typically beautiful women in comics ^^; XD
And heh, well it's all welcome feedback from John ^^ He's been my art ed ever since I started to draw something other than anime, which, along with his insights, is something I'm proud to have gone through :ok:

Hehehe. yeah, THE tell tale sign is there: long flowing dynamic hair. :p It is very understandable, anyway, because realistic hair doing non-realistic things is extremely hard to pull off.

OMG! I love it! It looks so much better zoomed out (or thumbnailed in devART), because there, I can appreciate the shading soooooo much more! I would've appreciated more detail, since you're using fine strokes (that's just me), but damn. It is very freaking good as a whole. The leaves and trunk work out just fine from afar. Nice texturing. and composition! that second dog did the trick.
