I've been participating in the gmail beta for a couple of months, and I've got a few spare invitations here - five, to be exact.
So here's the deal. If anybody wants or needs a gmail invitation, get ahold of one and I'll give you one. The catch is, once you get some invitations, you have to give a couple of them to other OB'ers. Pay it forward, so to speak.
And one last thing, I'm going to give these out first-come first-served, but only to members with at least ten posts just to make sure that lurkers don't sign up just to swipe a gmail invite from a deserving regular. ;)
So if you want an invite and are willing to share and share alike, go ahead and give me a shout. :)

Having read your mini-review of Gmail in another thread I'm taking this opportunity to request for an invite as well.
In return I promise not to foil your DP Maneuver attempts.

Umm, I can't find the other threads, so what actually is Gmail? If it sounds good, reserve me an invite!

GMail is an email service provided by Google, 1 gig of storage.

jq2k1, snakecharmer, PM me with your first/last name and your current email address and I'll get them sent out straight away.
One other thing I should add (since luckily someone else has spare invites), once you've gotten an invite let us know here so that other people don't send you more. ;)

Aside from the 1Gig of storage, what other advantages does GMail have to offer that's different from Yahoo Mail or Hotmail.?
Malachi
Sep 8 2004, 08:24 AM
I don't think there's too much of a difference aside from that... e-mail is already relatively "complete" in terms of what you can do with it... I think.

1 Gig, and it records replies to e-mails in a string. You also have a search function for your e-mail, so who cares about sorting it?
So for instance, if you and a friend have an e-mail about "work", and you reply back and forth to one another, all replies will be tallied under one heading, and not in multiple headings, making it easier to track what happened in the conversation of sorts.

for additional OC-ness, you can apply labels to your conversations to make them easier to sort and mark which conversations are important with stars.
oh, and no annoying banner ads. all ads are in text. I don't even notice them most of the time.

Also i happen to support Status' idea of sharing, so i'm going to keep the conditions given in the first post of this thread. I quote them below.
