There's probably around less than 1% of the Philippine population who has seen this. The premise is a group of guys watching a really bad movie and making side comments.

It might irritate those who usually watch movies behind noisy people though. :D

So far, I've seen them riff Godzilla vs. Megalon. Another movie, Hobgoblins, is a US b-movie that was even worse as a horror movie than local features from the 70's. Definitely very funny stuff.

On a side note, the series also goes to show that even American movies can sometimes be so gosh-darned awful that Philippine slapstick comedy movies look like classics in comparison.

Where do you think I get most of my sig quotes from?

It was a good show. Too bad it's no longer running.
ninjapeps
it's been years since I've seen an episode of this. can't remember much about it. wasn't it one guy (the janitor of a space station or something like that) and two robots?
Xellos sama
Lol, I think I stil actually have some MST3k VHS tapes lying around here somewhere...
MarkPoa
Yup, ninjapeps, that's the one. I think you might have caught the movie on HBO. That's the first one I saw anyway.

Honestly, I've been writing MSTs for two years now and I've only seen episodes of the show this year. I've been missing out.

Love those opening theme songs.

:sing: "In the not-so-distant future, like something A.D.... There was a guy named Joel, not too different from you or me..."
Xellos sama
Lord, this makes me miss the mid 90s so much xD

...the golden age of Philippine cable TV.....

...WHEN WE ACTUALLY HAD COMEDY CENTRAL HERE XD

"HeY. You were scanning me. You were trying to make my head explode you freaked out maniac."

I have every episode on tape, I first saw it, daaaammmmnnnn, waaay back in 93 or 94, holy crap has it been that long.

Favorite episode is Fire Maidens From Outer Space. "Cy Roth had to pad the film just so he could get to the scenes with more padding!"

The original Gamera. "HOLY TRINATRON!"
Actually they do a pretty good job ripping on alot of Japanese Sci-fi like
Time of the Apes "Oh welcome to plot convienence play house"
Fugitive Alien "And what's with the Japanese obsession with the name Ken?"
Prince of Space and Invasions of the Neptune Men. "So his only real super power is the ability to choose incompatent opponents?"
Godzilla vs The Sea Creature. 'I'll show you what he looks like' "He looks like me, only taller. I'll go get him"
I liked Godzilla vs Megalon mainly for my hero, Rex Dart, Eskimo Spy! Stand by for action!

Other recommended episodes, Santa Clause Conquers the Martians the carol "A Patrick Swayze Christmas" will make you laugh your ass off.
Attack of the Giant Leeches
"Ooooh, I'm a danger to myself and others, my cousins are as close as brothers. I stand out in the rain all the time"
"He's a danger to himself and others, he likes shows with Sally Struthers and I can't even think of a word that rhymes."
"How dumb are you uncle dad?"
"I'm pretty dumb that's for sure"
"How dumb are you uncle dad?"
"Why this pipe is filled with manuer."
"We're a danger to ourselves and others the earth is still our mother, leave us in the backwoods and we're just fine"
"We're a danger to ourselves and others good live stock makes better lovers, huntin' giant leeches is what we call a good time."

"Ohhh I feel sorry for anything that survived that"
"What, the dynamite or that crappy song?"

Also Manos the Hands of Fate if you want to see a really crappy film.
12 to the Moon. "So what did we learn here today, that 3 maybe 4 people would have worked better, and oh yes, always bring cats."
Rocket Ship X-M. "Look bub, ever sense we left all it's been out of you is Texas this and Texas that. Well I'm telling you I've been to Texas and it ain't that great."
Beginning of the End "That's sign language for AAAAHHHHH!"
Human Duplicators "I remember when I worked for NASA back when we were next to Cost Cutters."
Pod People "I'll go fix some sandwiches' "Yeah, that's the perfect thing for a crushed spine"
Cave Dwellers "Theory of flight! I'll show you the theory of fist."
RADAR Secret Service 'My feet are killing me' "Have you tride RADAR on them?"

some of the shorts are great too.
Truck Farmers 'In Texas we have additional problems' "Texans"
Junoir Rodeo "No, wait, this is wrong I signed up for debaaaate."
Circus on Ice "I don't want to watch the circus anymore mom" "Shut up and watch the deer get slaughtered."

It's a great show, trying to find episodes is the tough part.

"So can I go home after I see a good Joe Don Baker movie?"
"Mike, I can guarentee you, that will never ever happen."
MarkPoa
Man, I just saw Fugitive Alien, Horror of Party Beach, and Samson vs. the Vampire Woman and I still have a big grin on my face. :D

Best riff I saw EVER: When El Santo (Samson) was racing to the vampires' hideout, suddenly, the riffers burst into song:

"Go, El Santo! Go, El Santo! Go, El Santo, go!" (Sung to the tune of "Go Speed Racer")

I was laughing so hard, I cried.
Demoncaller777
It's a very good show. They don't show it over here(US) anymore, either, but they do make DVD collections. We have 2 or 3 of them. It's good.

For you MSTies and Manos culties out there, here are two interesting articles on the behind the scenes of "Manos: The Hands of Fate":

http://jophan.org/mimosa/m18/brandt.htm

http://jophan.org/mimosa/m30/brandt.htm

For the benefit of those who have not heard of this... Manos: The Hands of Fate was a 1960's film. It was so bad, it made Dr. Forrester remark that maybe they had gone too far.

The two articles above explained a lot of why that was.
MegaManEXE
Aw the Godzilla vs. Mothra one is fantastic, where Mothra comes into the cinema at the end! Lmao... Maybe that's the Godzilla vs. Megalon one and I don't know my Gojeilla movies that well?
Tiamat_Xero
I love this show! It really upset me when it went off the air. But now I have some of the DVD collections so I get to watch it whenever I want.
MegaManEXE
As much as I like this show, the theme tune make me wanna barf. Urgh...:puke:
