I actually like subbed better for hentai and not just typical anime. Dubs don't preserve any intended emotion heard in the original voice acting.

Jap female voice acting is a lot sexier than American. it's the only reason why I watch hentai.

Dubbed? Why is there even a poll are you kidding me, you truly are ONE SICK MONKEY! (although the really early anime dubs "Quest for Ur Anus" which was made with a already bad hentai OVA was hilariously re-written and voiced , Clark Gable accent, and not very subtle attempts at humour) but in general, hentai dubs make my ears bleed. :rant: :disagree:

Err, this is a classic sub vs dub thread, regardless of the genre...And speaking of genre, hentai anime has the worst dubs I've heard, getting porn stars to do the dubbing doesn't help either...

I'd think I woudn't mind dubbing....La Blue Girl was fine....but then when I hear the pure horror that was Mezzo Forte English dubbed.... :pukeface:. Urg....I mean I first heard the japanese dub with eng subs and was all like "Mmmm..." Then the English one is like done by frightened monkies....who are eating fish at the time....and speak english. whether its anime or hentai, sub is still the best.

dubbed is just so... sad. dubbers have no idea what the characters emotions are. they sound fake, plus japanese sounds good to my ears. and japanese voices, especially japanese girl voices. yeah.

and that real otakus have an innate ability to read the subs and still watch the show. <--- its a law of anime, what can i say.

There's just something fake about some of the dubbes. Western Celebrities dubbing a movie just don't seem interested in indentifieing themselves with what happens on screen (ESPECCIALY not in the more extreme titles). Perhaps Azian voice actors are more into these creations, they do a fine job. (Almost to well, makes me wonder how exactly they do some of the female moaning sounds in the scenes.................... mind begins to wonder of......................)

Oh heavens, dubbed hentai is simply atrocious. Many people watch hentai to.. um.. "relieve tension," and there's nothing like an acting-impaired porn star giving fake moans from a cute hentai girl's mouth to.. "turn you off." Fortunately I've had the good fortune of avoiding most hentai dubs, though I have been subject to a few when subs weren't available. There's a particularly horrible voiced one named Karen.

As far as a dub for a hentai go, La Blue Girl (IMO) was freaking hillarious and made me laugh. However, I am generally a fan of subs when it comes to anime or hentai.

I love the Japanese language.

I like both, its good in Japan and in Eng.

Good Dubs (extremely rare) for anime, Original for Hentai (usually japanese). Before you scream how stupid and lazy I am let me explain. I have an active imagination, and when watching anime I get extremely into the story. Nothing pulls me out of the story more then having to look at the bottom of the screen and read. Partially because I have poor reading/english skills, and it often gives me headaches.

There you have it. Someone who perfers anime dubbed in english. Also I can't watch episodes from seperate dubbings. Once the character has a voice it becomes part of them in my mind, and can't be changed without messing up the feel of the story. These are my personal preferences, and I completely understand how most people enjoy the original Japanese with subtitles, but that's not for me. For hentai tho, nothing beats screaming/moaning japanese girls :wink:

Dubbed? Bloody Hell, Never, though i haven't seen any dubbed H, only Anime. I saw Blue Gender, it was probably supposed to be serious, but, when they dubbed it, it was the funniest anime ive seen to date. God, i hate dubbs, they fail to capture the nuance and flow of the japanese language.

Ahh nothing can be worse than thirty old women that can't even make a convincing sound of twenty year old characters voicing fifteen year olds.

For example the first episode of Ogenki Clinic had turned me off for a week, despite being warned how bad it was.

subbed is definately 100% better in most cases. The japanese female voices are much sexier than most dubbed english voices. Especially when they cast these freakin pornstars to do the voices, they are just cheesy.

Most definitely subbed.. I was watching the first episode of Twisted Tales of Tokyo.. on DVD and the dubbed was so bad and so inaccurate... It was a good thing I could actually switch it over to Japanese, so I was okay about it.... how can you start screaming honey when it's your papa... hmm.. the dubbed voice sounded so much more older then a teenager...

That said, there are some excellent English voice actors out there, so theoretically a decent hentai dub could exist. I'm still not sure if it would be better than the original Japanese in most cases, though.

When i'm seriously watching i prefer subs, but sometimes i will listen to the dub, belive it or not some are getting alot better, and sometimes they are funny as hell.

I like it with subtitles, even though I wish I could understand it without them so I could do away with all of those annoying words at the bottom. Their voice acting is much better even though I can't understand a single word they're saying. Apparently the people they get to dub the voices are only good at faking sex noises if they're actually having sex. Maybe they should keep that in mind for future reference. Maybe they could even add that in for behind the scenes footage on the DVD release.

I thought La Blue Girl was ok. I enjoyed it dubbed. Now the live action LA Blue Girl was absolutely horrific. Nothing good about it at all.

I usually only watch the subbed because it does have emotion and the girls sound much better.

It's not just that I've developed a great liking over time for the adorable falsetto tones that Nippon no Shoujo emit, it's also that Japanese voice acting in Hentai is quite astoundingly good. The passion and conviction some of the female seiyuu put into their acting is downright admirable. Considering they're sitting in a recording studio whilst emulating the throes of passion, probably being watched intently by some incredibly lucky tech-guy, the ability to then cast aside their inhibitions and moan and groan with gleeful abandon is the mark of a true thespian.

The dub, in my experience, isn't anywhere near as good. Maybe it's because the occupation "Hentai voice actress" isn't as prestigous an occupation as it is in Japan. Therefore, the only people really willing to do it are porn stars, who aren't exactly used to seriously acting and wholeheartedly immersing themselves in their roles in true Stanislavskian fashion (let alone for "cartoon porn").

I can go either way. If it is available, I usually start off with English dubbed AND subtitles (to see the original script but in english). If the English is crappy, I switch over to Japanese. There is some with decent dubbing (as well as some with horrible dubbing) so I personally am not biased one way or the other.

Defineitly subbed, I will switch over to dubbed for a laugh every now and then but when i'm seriously watching something it's subbed all the way.

Honestly, I've thought about this before and I think the reason myself and so many others prefer subtitled ones is because we have NO IDEA OF THE INTONATION OF THE VOICES BECAUSE WE DON'T SPEAK THAT LANGUAGE!!

How do you know they aren't "bad" voice actors? Do you speak Japanese? Hell, they could be the worst ever, but they sound convincing, because you really have no idea with what type of inflection the line is being delivered.

As all of my anime i watch it will be subbed. sometimes dubs aren't that bad, but the original japanese version allways sounds better to me.

The Japanese voice actress for Strange Love had an irritating voice. Kerberos of Card Captor Sakura had an Osaka accent (provincial), but I think that was intentional. The voice actresses of Amusement Park are not amusing; they sound like old ladies trying to sound young. In some anime, the English dubbing is better than the Japanese dub (forgot the title of the last anime I watched that had this case).

I usually listen to both to see the comparison, but I prefer subbed. While there are horrible Japanese voice actors, there are still more horrible English dubbers. Funny thing about subs, though --> sometimes the translations get a bit too literal. And I've come across subtitles that do not tell you what the conversation is about. Like with the case of Casual Romance Club. It both had English and Japanese subtitles, plus English and Japanese voice...some of the Japanese subtitles and the English voices do not match what's actually being said.

And yeah, I studied the Japanese language and stopped at JLPT3. Will resume my studies when I go for my doctorate degree. :biggrin:

I prefer the dubbed, because subbed can be confusing sometimes. Take it from me, born in U.S. and living a broad unless you were raised in said culture you miss many of the puns, for example there is still a German one that throws me, something about in the grass and it basically means dead, I'm sure Japanese is the same. I watch sub and dub, but prefer dub, cause while the main story stays in tact some of the cultural jokes are missed and the dub usually replaces them with a joke our culture will get.

In anime I like dubbed though. There is usually a more involved story, and I don't like having to pay attention to the bottom of the scene and what's going on at the same time.
