wai~! I was cleaning my room a while ago (actually I was looking for something but my room was in such a mess that I ended up cleaning it ) and I found these old fanarts I made 2 years ago...man, I can't believe I knew how to 'ink' before :buck:

anyway, just sharing!

kAo, these are amazing.

and it's incredible inks!

don't worry if you have forgotten how to ink, (or more likely lost the confidence to do so), but please please please do continue drawing. These are very very good works of art.

Can't do anything but hope you'll give us more of this kind of quality work :)

I envy your skill, but I will improve my own until I am not envious anymore. :)

You could try and just excel where you're really good at, though. Like turning really really good-looking men on. I'm sure kao would concede to your expertise, though I'm inclined to believe she's no slacker in that department herself.

TRP

Love your work, kao! I know you prolly haven't drawn much in a while, but you'll get back there if you really want to. :)

No matter how long our talents lay dormant, they are ready to erupt again, when we use them...............

Artists evolve as life changes them, inks are a skill you mastered, you can use it again, but you prefer sketching for this time, do what your heart wants....

*snifu*

gomen minna...I haven't been around the boards for a while...:bawling: waaah~! I'm so touched...doumo arigatou gozaimashita...:)

I guess two years ago was the peak of my drawing days since that was the time when I was driven to study Fine Arts, become a mangaka and stuff. that was also the time when I joined a mangaka-wannabe group and had been active in comic conventions...demo I was rejected by the college of Fine Arts in my university so I got enrolled in a totally off-course course and instead became a Japanese-culture-loving "activist"...mwahahahaha...(gomen for this lengthy dorama )

anyway, I have been drawing since I was 5 (I started anime drawing 6 years ago) so I guess my skills are already honed (or whatever is a better term) but I lack practice now so I don't think I can redo the drawings above as easy as before :( that's why I was jubilant when I found them---cuz they're rare! rare I say!!! *ahem*

I wish I could get back on my anime drawing, but I've been focusing on other things lately so it's pretty hard. and I'm also trying my hand on digital art (but I totally suck, unlike elfboy-sempai here, who's a total pro, ne?) cuz it will be more useful for me in school. so yeah, it proves you just need the right heart to succeed in anything. I wish "GANBATTE" to all artists here in OB!

ARIGATOU GOZAIMASU!

6 years of drawing manga - no wonder you are so good. I'm only a 1-year newbie.

I'm not a total pro at digital art yet. I feel I am still a student - that's why I am trying to learn to be better. as for mangaka - I know I will not become one in my future - I am more of a film-maker/screenplay writer than an artist.

I hope you do get the time to rediscover your artistic form. I know it can be difficult to do so when you're not in the groove. not in the zone.

I am very very surprised that you didn't get into fine arts... what exactly are they looking for in that course? were you required to submit paintings? I never wanted to be a fine artist - I always wanted to be a film director so I don't know - the only illustration capabilities I needed were for storyboard purposes.

why am I going on and on? sorry.

Ganbatte, kAo.

maa...I've always seen myself as an artist, somebody like Van Gogh who'll become a millionaire only after my 50th death anniversary... or of course, a comic book artist cuz I've been reading comics since I learned how to read. but the college of fine arts in my university abhors anime/manga art so I was quite unlucky. during our application, we were asked to sketch a statue and draw a poster within 2 hours, my work was fair but I used anime-style so I guess that was a point for rejection. but anyway, that was a looong time ago and I'm sort of 'over' that episode now, although I still hold on to my dream of becoming a mangaka someday...maybe I'll get a graduate studies scholarship in Tokyo College of Fine Arts after college or whatever...

doumo arigatou gozaimash'ta elfboy-sempai. ganbarimashou ne?

Well, you don't really need a paper (a.k.a a degree) that says you can draw. I mean... I'm not a graduate! I've just got a diploma in digital arts. I couldn't afford to go to the school of my choices, and I didn't want to graduate with a second rate degree. <-- I'm such a snob.

You can always be a mangaka first, make lots of money then go to school. After all Steven Spielberg got his degree in film just recently! His final project to graduate? He submitted "Schindler's List".

you mean a vocational course?

I myself have been spending my last 2 years in a university that was NEVER in my wish list. but at least it's affordable...^__^ and I get to be in an organization that I loooove~! (ok, that's an understatement, my university is a great school, highschool grads would die to get in it, but I'm just one lump of a pathetic ingrate :buck: )

anyway, I wish I could just stop school and concentrate on manga-making...oops, my humanities prof said any artwork was CREATED rather than MADE, so it's instead manga-CREATING (my assignments are getting into my nerves, gomen  and it's just the weekend after the FIRST week of classes! :buck: ) anyway...I can't afford to become a bum of an artist and take the risk to hope that my debut would bring me in millions of moolah...sure, a bunch of fans is enough to fulfill a certain self-satisfaction but if my mom loses her job I'm next in line to feed our family. in other words, I'm one of the many young Filipinos who treat every career move as a (literally) life or death decision. I'd like to liberate myself but rallying on the streets won't help me right now, not until those congress freaks stop yakking and start doing their job! (insert BEP's "shut up" song) and besides, the comic industry in the Phils is not...exactly doing well... drawing comic strips for broadsheets is a good start but I'm too lazy to work for something that follows strict deadlines...

gomen for my ranting...I'm having trouble doing this authobiography homework I need to turn in by 2:30pm (this afternoon? whoa! it's morning already!)...ja...sore wa takusan desu...

sore wa takusan desu...

Thanks to you, I looked up takusan, and found out it's a word I really should know. ^_^ We need more people to use Japanese words, so my awareness of useful words goes up.
